On the day a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) allegedly died by suicide, AIADMK general secretary Palaniswami demanded a CBI enquiry into the death of the official. The DIG reportedly shot himself with a pistol on Friday at his residence at Red Fields in Coimbatore. However, the cause of the extreme step of the officer is yet to be ascertained. 


Taking to social media, AIADMK General Secretary said, "I am deeply saddened to learn about the death of DIG Vijayakumar. The work of Vijayakumar who started his career as a Deputy SP and developed himself into the rank of DIG is admirable."


"The death of Vijayakumar is a loss to the police department and my deepest condolences to his family and friends," he said.







Edappadi Palaniswami said that there were reports that Vijayakumar who was on his morning walk took his bodyguard's pistol and later shot himself dead. This raises suspicions." 


As a result, EPS demanded a CBI probe. Palaniswami said, "I urge this government to investigate the suicide of Mr.Vijayakumar IPS through CBI and find out the true background. His death is a loss to the police and my deepest condolences to his family and friends who are bereaved."

On Friday, Deputy Inspector General of Police for Coimbatore Vijayakumar allegedly killed himself using a pistol borrowed from his security. Earlier, Tamil Nadu CM said that he was deeply shocked and saddened to hear the sad news of the untimely death of DIG Vijayakumar. He also said that the death of DIG was a disaster for the Tamil Nadu Police Department.
