The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to interfere with Cauvery Water Management Authority's (CWMA) order to release 5,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu temporarily. The Apex Court ordered the Authority to meet every 15 days. Earlier, Tamil Nadu had approached the apex court regarding the issue.
According to ANI, the Supreme Court refuses to interfere with the order of Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) to Karnataka on releasing 5,000 cusecs of water for now to Tamil Nadu. Supreme Court asks the Authority to meet every 15 days.

Supreme Court bench of Justices BR Gavai, PS Narasimha and Prashant Kumar Mishra heard a plea of Tamil Nadu challenging the decision of the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) upholding the order of the Committee on grounds that it is facing a drought-like situation due to deficit in rainfall on Thursday. The bench said it is not inclined to entertain the plea of Tamil Nadu.
The bench, as per PTI said, "Expert bodies like the CWMA and Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) have considered all relevant aspects like drought and deficit rainfall and passed the order and, therefore, it is not inclined to interfere with the order directing Karnataka to release 5,000 cusecs of water."On Wednesday, a meeting chaired by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was attended by Union Ministers and All-Party MPs from Karnataka to discuss the Cauvery water-sharing dispute was convened in the national capital.
The meeting came after the Cauvery Water Management Authority ordered Karnataka to release 5,000 cusecs of water for the next 15 days to Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, a delegation of representatives from Karnataka is also set to meet Union Jal Shakti Minister in New Delhi.
