Chennai: A man was arrested for brutally stabbing his wife to death on a busy road in Tamil Nadu's Vellore district on Tuesday. After the attack, the visuals of the brutal crime also emerged on social media.  


According to ABP Nadu, the accused has been identified as Jaishankar. Jaishankar and the victim Punitha got married sometime ago. Punitha was working at a private shoe company in Vellore. 


On Monday night, while Punitha was returning home from her workplace, Jaishankar waylaid her. He suddenly started to attack her with a knife. 


When Punitha resisted, he started to stab her on the busy road. The passersby including a biker who saw the assault did not intervene to stop the attack. 


Using this, Jaishankar stabbed her seven times before letting her go. In the impact, Punitha collapsed on the ground. Some of the women who were nearby rushed her to the hospital.

Punitha was admitted to Ambur government hospital. However, she died of injuries in the hospital. 


The police also registered a case. 


Further, investigations are on. However, the reason for the crime is yet to be known.

Last year, a 21-year-old man was booked for allegedly stabbing his wife to death in New Janta Nagar in Punjab. The incident took place just six months after the wedding of the couple.  


The crime took place when the victim Santhosh (19) was residing in a house rented by her parents. 


The police said that the victim was stabbed six times with the weapon. They also said that the victim's parents earlier claimed that Santhosh was harassed by her in-laws for dowry and as a result, she moved to her maternal house in Ludhiana.
