Chennai: The Tamil Nadu cabinet Ministers and their portfolios were reshuffled on the recommendation of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday. The Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi also approved the change of portfolios and subject allocations.


According to a press release by Principal Secretary to Governor, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, will take up the portfolios of Youth Welfare, Sports Development, Special Programme, Implementation Department, Poverty Alleviation Programme and Rural Indebtedness.


Minister Siva Meyyanathan who was holding environment, climate change and youth welfare and sport development has been stripped of youth welfare and sports development allocation and has been instead given an additional portfolio of Pollution Control and Ex-Servicemen.


The Minister for Handlooms and Textile R Gandhi has been given an additional portfolio of Boodhan and Gramadhan. The Minister for HR&CE PK Sekar Babu has been allocated an additional portfolio of CMDA. 


The Minister for Finance and HR Management Palanivel Thiaga Rajan has been allocated an additional charge of Statistics.


Four other Ministers were also swapped their portfolios. The Minister for Co-operation I Periyasamy has been changed from his portfolio and has been allocated the portfolios of rural development, panchayats and panchayat union. The Minister for Rural Development KR Periyakaruppan has been allocated the portfolio of Minister for Co-operation.


The Minister for Forest K Ramachandran has been shifted as Minister for Tourism. Minister of Tourism Mathiventhan has been made into the Minister for Forests.


The Minister for Housing and Urban Development S Muthusamy has been allocated the portfolios of housing, rural, town planning projects and housing development, accommodation control, urban planning and urban development. 


The Minister for BC Welfare Raja Kannappan has been allocated additional subjects of de-notified communities welfare and khadi and village industries board.

MLA Udhayanidhi Stalin was sworn in as a Minister at Raj Bhavan in Chennai on Wednesday. The oath-taking ceremony took place in the presence of TN CM Stalin and TN Governor RN Ravi.
