Chennai: A devotee died while two others got injured after the mini-van in which they were traveling from Sabarimala met with an accident near Vedasandur in Dindigul district. The mini-van was commuting 20 Ayyappan temple devotees from Karnataka.


According to ANI, Dindigul police said, “One person died and two others were injured after a mini-van carrying 20 Ayyappan temple devotees from Karnataka met with an accident near Vedasandur in Dindigul district.”

“The injured were admitted to Dindigul Government Hospital for treatment,” they said.

On December 24, 2022, eight Ayappan devotees were killed after the car they traveled fell into a 40-foot-deep pit in Theni district of Tamil Nadu on Friday. 


All of them were residents of Shanmugasundarapuram village. They were returning after their visit to Sabarimala temple. 


Meanwhile, on Monday, five people died after a car in which they were travelling was hit by a truck from behind near Veppur in the Cuddalore district. Based on a tip-off, the police and fire and rescue department rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of the deceased from the mangled remains of the car. 


The police then sent the bodies to a Government hospital for autopsy. The five members were identified as two women and two children from the same family.

Cuddalore SP Sakthi Ganesan also rushed to the spot and started the investigation at the accident spot. However, the reason for the mishap is yet to be known.
