In a setback to O Pannerselvam and his camp, the Madras High Court Friday set aside the single-judge order which was in favour of OPS and helped cement Edappadi Palaniswami's position as interim General Secretary of AIADMK, reported ANI news agency. A two-judge division bench comprising justice Sundar Mohan and M Duraiswamy passed the order.
The Madras HC order says July 11 General Council meet is valid and EPS election as interim general secretary holds good. Meanwhile, police personnel deployed outside AIADMK office on Avvai Shanmuga Salai in Chennai.

Earlier, the Madras High Court held the validity of AIADMK General Council meeting on the appeal of former Chief Minister E Palaniswami, setting aside its earlier order by Justice G Jayachandran in favour of O Panneerselvam on the party leadership dispute.
"Earlier order by single judge has been set aside by the division bench. They upheld the validity of the AIADMK General Council Meet," former MLA and one of the advocates representing the EPS camp, Inbadurai said, as quoted by news agency ANI.
Meanwhile, the OPS faction mulling moving to SC to stay Madras HC's order. Both Palaniswamu and Panneerselvam have engaged in a public feud over the party leadership and both had filed separate petitions in the High Court.
