The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the removal of the name, photos, and videos of a trainee doctor, who was raped and murdered in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, from all social media platforms. A bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud said disclosure of the identity of a victim of sexual assault is a violation of its order passed in the Nipun Saxena case.
"This court is constrained to issue an injunctive order since the social and electronic media have proceeded to publish the identity of the deceased and photographs of the dead body after the recovery of the body. We accordingly direct that all references to the name of the deceased in the above incident, photographs and video clips shall forthwith be removed from all social media platforms and electronic media in compliance of this order," the bench, also comprising Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, said, as quoted by news agency PTI.

A FORDA member told PTI that the body would hold a meeting with all stakeholders before making a decision on strike. Federation of All India Medical Association, or FAIMA, another doctors' body, said it will also conduct a meeting soon. "We will update soon. The decision will be made after considering every state RDA's input and will be based on the majority's decision," FAIMA said.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday constituted a 10-member task force to formulate a national protocol to ensure safety and facilities for doctors in the wake of the rape and murder of a medic in Kolkata. The task force will submit its interim report within three weeks and the final report within two months.
The Federation of Resident Doctors' Association on Tuesday welcomed the Supreme Court's intervention into the rape and murder of Kolkata medic, saying it will serve the interests of the medical fraternity.

The Central Bureau of Investigation will interrogate RG Kar College and Hospital Ghosh again today. The former principal was interrogated for 14 hours yesterday. Ghosh will be interrogated for the fifth day today. So far, 53 hours of interrogation has been done in last four days.
