The Kolkata police have summoned former Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Locket Chatterjee and two doctors over two separate cases linked to the rape-murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Chatterjee was issued a notice by the Kolkata police for allegedly revealing the identity of the victim and has been asked to appear before then at 3 pm in Lalbazar.
Two doctors, Kunal Sarkar and Suvarn Goswami have also been served a notice by the police to appear before them for spreading misinformation about the probe.
Responding to the summons, Chatterjee hit out at Kolkata police accusing them of prioritising monitoring social media posts over ensuring justice to the victims.
In a post in Bangla on X, she said: "The victim in the RG Kar case is still crying and awaiting trial. But the Kolkata Police now has only one job, judging the posts of opposition leaders and common people by going through social media. The administration has used the police to see what the opposition leaders are posting on social media and to set up their trial," she posted in Bangla on X.
The accused, Sanjoy Roy, in the rape and murder of the postgraduate trainee doctor will undergo a psychological test on Sunday as the forensic team arrived in Kolkata from Delhi on Saturday.
Meanwhile, officials from the Central Bureau of Investigation have asked the former principal of RG Kar College, Sandip Ghosh to appear before them for questioning for a third consecutive day in connection with their probe into the matter.
On Saturday, Ghosh was grilled for nearly 13 hours, from 10 am till past midnight on Sunday, and has been asked to come again this morning as CBI investigators have some more questions for him, an officer of the investigating agency said.
