New Delhi: Unidentified persons allegedly hurled bombs at a Trinamool Congress office in Howrah's Polgustia area on Sunday. It is alleged that the incident occurred around 8 pm, when a group of people arrived on motorcycles and threw a bomb at the office, subsequently followed by intense firing.

The Trinamool party has alleged that workers and supporters of the Indian Secular Front (ISF) were involved in this incident, sources informed ABP Live.

According to sources, there was a meeting of the ISF workers in the Patihal area of Jagatballabhpur, where Bhangar MLA Nausad Siddiqui was also present.

Sheikh Nizam, the Trinamool Youth President of the area, claimed that after the meeting ended, supporters of the ISF attempted to stir up commotion in the area. He stated that they were inside the party office when the attack took place suddenly, resulting in multiple injuries.

The injured were taken to the hospital and upon receiving the news, the Jagatballabhpur police station dispatched officers to the site and initiated an investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, the ISF denied the allegations and said that Trinamool workers themselves carried out the incident and were falsely accusing them.

The investigation is underway and the officials are trying to determine who is involved in the incident.

Earlier, in January, a clash broke out between the party workers of the Islamist party, the Indian Secular Front (ISF), and the Trinamool Congress workers in the Bhangar area in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

Shops and commercial buildings were also vandalised at Bhangar. Later, the cops reached the spot and pacified the situation.

It may be recalled that during the 2021 West Bengal Assembly election, the ISF formed an alliance with the CPI(M) and Congress. Although the Indian Secular Front secured one Assembly seat in the election, its allies, the Left Front led by CPI(M) and Congress, failed to win any constituency.
