New Delhi: In a heartwarming incident, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday stopped his speech midway as a woman came to the stage to tie him rakhi on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

The AAP leader was distributing appointment letters to Anganwadi worker and their helpers at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar when the woman came to the stage and tied him rakhi.

A video shared by news agency ANI shows the Punjab CM stopping his speech midway as a woman ties him rakhi on the stage and Mann blesses her and poses for a picture.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Raksha Bandhan with school children. School girls were invited to tie him rakhi at his residence in Delhi.

PM Modi interacted with the children as they came forward to tie him rakhi.

In 2023, Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on the night of August 30 and the festival of Rakhi will not be celebrated the entire day or in the morning hours like previous years, but rather during the night hours.

Meanwhile, AAP convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann will visit Rajasthan on August 31 to sound the poll bugle. Kejriwal is likely to release the party's election manifesto.

If the AAP's social media campaign for Rajasthan is anything to go by, Kejriwal's 'guarantees' for the Rajasthan voters could be 'mohalla clinics' in Rajasthan based on the Delhi model, 24-hour power guarantee, transformation of the school education system in Rajasthan, employment assurances, and confirmation of jobs of contractual workers.
