The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has killed wanted criminal Mohammed Gurfan in an encounter near the Samda sugar mill of Manjhanpur in the state's Kaushambi district. SP Kaushambi Brijesh Srivastava said that Gurfan was carrying a reward of Rs 1,25,000. He said that a miscreant was injured in an encounter with Lucknow STF this morning and was taken to a hospital but he succumbed to his injuries. Srivastava said that Gufran is a resident of Pratapgarh and around 13 criminal cases are registered against him in Pratapgarh.
"Police tried to stop Gufran near Samda but he fired at police and in retaliatory firing, he got injured and later succumbed to his injuries. One .32 bore pistol, 9mm carbine, and bike recovered. He was associated with many big criminals. Probe being done," Dharmesh Kumar Shahi, Dy SP, UP STF said.
In a separate incident, one terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu And Kashmir’s Kulgam district, Kashmir police said on Tuesday morning. According to Kashmir Police, incriminating materials including arms and ammunition have been recovered from his possession. The identification and affiliation of the terrorist are being ascertained. A search operation is going on. Further details are awaited.
Earlier on Monday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a terror-related case registered by the agency last year, officials said. In May this year, the NIA carried out searches at three locations in Kashmir Valley in connection with the terror conspiracy case and seized incriminating literature and several digital devices, as reported by ANI.
