Nanakmatta Gurudwara Kar Sewa Pramukh (chief) Baba Tarsem Singh was on Thursday, shot dead by unidentified assailants in Uttarakhand's Nanakmatta area of Udham Singh Nagar. Uttarakhand Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar stated that the police headquarters formed a Special Investigation Team under the leadership of DSP RB Chamola to investigate the incident and nab the killers of the Nanakmatta Gurdwara Kar Seva Pramukh Baba Tarsem Singh. 





"The SIT includes STF and police officers. An additional police force has been sent to maintain peace in the Nanakmatta area, appealing to the Sikh community to maintain peace," DGP Kumar stated.


He also stated that the STF has been directed to keep the case as their top priority and probe all angles minutely. "We have to not only identify the assailants but also the bigger conspiracy behind this murder, if any," he added.


Talking about the murder, the DGP stated that the police were informed about the incident at around 7 am. He stated that two masked assailants entered the premises of the Nanakmatta Gurudwara and shot at the Kar Seva Pramukh Baba Tarsem Singh. 






Following this, the gurudwara chief was rushed to a hospital in Khatima, where he was declared brought dead, SDM Khatima Ravindra Singh Bisht stated.


DGP Kumar stated that the matter is very serious and the senior officials including the SSP have reached the spot. 


"DIG Kumaon is also reaching there, he will inspect the scene of the crime and speak to the locals. He will try to assess the situation there," he added.


According to DGP Kumar, the police team has also contacted the central agencies to get useful insights into the matter. "I assure you that we will solve this matter soon and take strict action," he added.





 SDM Bisht also stated that the law and order situation in the Nanakmatta area is normal.
