Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday visited the injured and sent orders to create a commission to investigate the cause of roof collapse at a cold storage facility in the state's Sambhal district as the death toll rose to 14, news agency PTI reported. 


Deputy Inspector General of Police Shalabh Mathur claimed that twenty-four people were recovered from the wreckage of the collapsed structure on Indira Road within the jurisdiction of the Chandausi police station, 14 of them died, as per the report.


Virtually all of the missing workers have been found, and the rescue effort is nearing completion, according to Mathur.


According to District Magistrate Manish Bansal, four people are being treated at a hospital in Moradabad, while six have been discharged.


Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who was in Moradabad on state visits, paid a visit to the hospital where Sambhal's injured were being treated. He approached the injured and inquired about their well-being.


CM Adityanath has declared an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for each of the deceased's next of kin, Rs 50,000 for those gravely injured, and free care for all those seriously injured in the tragedy, PTI reported citing a government official in Lucknow. 


According to the report, Adityanath offered his condolences for the loss of life and urged officials to guarantee medical treatment for the injured.


He has also constituted a team to investigate the causes of the roof collapse, chaired by the divisional commissioner and the DIG of Moradabad, it said. 


The committee has been requested to deliver its findings as soon as possible, it added. 


Sambhal is around 158 kilometres from Delhi and 350 kilometres from the state capital of Lucknow.


According to DM Bansal, the rescue mission, which included the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force, lasted all night, it said. 


According to Tarannum Raza, chief medical officer, about 25 physicians and 21 ambulances were forced into service in the rescue mission. Ambulances from Moradabad, Budaun, and Rampur were also dispatched.


To aid in the rescue operation, searchlights were erected in the region. Earthmovers were also called in to help clear the rubble.
