A fire broke out at a Canara Bank branch in Lucknow's Hazratganj on Monday, news agency ANI reported. According to authorities, all personnel in the building were successfully rescued when fire departments got on the scene immediately. Employees of the bank can be seen escaping from the window and wandering along the ledge of the building, awaiting rescue by firefighting personnel in one video.
According to a fire officer, the fire had been doused and everyone had been saved. He speculated that the fire on the first level was caused by an electrical short circuit. Speaking with ANI, Fire Officer Mangesh Kumar said: "The reason is electrical short circuit... The fire spread because most of the materials like papers and computers were combustible... No one is stranded. All of the people have been rescued... The fire is under control..."
Speaking with PTI, Lucknow Central ADCP Manisha Singh stated: "We received information that a fire broke out in Canara bank building in Lucknow's Hazratganj area. Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control. All the people inside the building were also brought out."
A bank employee who fled via the window said he witnessed the air conditioner catch fire. "There were around 40 people inside. We broke the windows, walked on the building's ledge and were rescued by fire fighters," he informed ANI.
