While the 'gau sevak' who died was identified as Netrapal, another worker named Haroon was reported to have sustained bullet injury.
According to the information available, Netrapal's brother Charan Singh called for help in the village but the locals, frightened by the miscreants, kept waiting for the police to come.
SSP Prabhakar Chaudhary and SP Dehat Keshav Kumar arrived with the police force as Netrapal's dead body lay on the ground with Haroon injured.
Haroon was first referred to Meerut and then to Delhi for treatment.
Meanwhile, the police have combed the fields in search of the miscreants.
Charan Singh said that Netrapal and Haroon were sleeping when about five armed miscreants entered the Gaushala and started beating the two.
The miscreants dragged both of them away, they then stole Charan Singh's mobile phone and started beating him as well.
Charan Singh managed to escape and called for help as the assailants started firing and killed Netrapal. They fled after mistaking Haroon as being dead.
As soon as the police arrived, a crowd of villagers gathered at the spot. As a precaution, a heavy police force has been deployed in the village.
Reportedly, a dispute regarding the Gaushala has been cited as a possible cause behind the firing incident and the police are also working on that rivalry angle.
