New Delhi: In a shocking incident, five persons of a family were found dead in their home in Khevrajpur village of Prayagraj.


As per news agency PTI, police said that the deceased persons were killed with sharp-edged weapons.

Prashant Kumar, ADG, Law & Order, Uttar Pradesh said, "This incident is of a very serious nature. STF team has been sent to the spot. The motive behind the incident will be revealed after preliminary investigation."


According to the Prayagraj SSP Ajay Kumar, the police received information about the incident at around 5.30 am and five members of the family were found to be dead.


"We received info about the incident at around 5.30 am. After reaching the spot, we found that a person named Rajkumar, his wife Kusum, daughter-in-law, daughter, and granddaughter were found dead. Rajkumar's second granddaughter who is 5 years old is alive," the officer said, as quoted by news agency ANI.


"There was a fire in the bedroom which has been extinguished by the fire brigade. Bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Till now motive behind the incident is not clear. Further investigation underway," he informed.


The deceased include Rajkumar Yadav (aged 55), Rajkumar's daughter Manisha (aged 25), Rajkumar's wife Kusum (aged 50), Rajkumar's daughter-in-law Savita (aged 30), as well as Rajkumar's two-year-old granddaughter.


Rajkumar's son Sunil was not in the house, he had gone to attend a wedding, PTI reported police as saying.


A dog squad and forensic team reached the spot and the evidence is being collected after inspecting the spot.


This incident comes after four members of a family were murdered with sharp weapons in Khagalpur village under the Nawabganj police station area in Prayagraj.


The head of the family was found hanging in the incident reported on April 15.
