UP Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday that after the re-activation of the Southwest Monsoon, many parts of the country, including the northern region, will face a very heavy rain in the next six-seven days. The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rain in the Western Himalayan region and Uttar Pradesh for the next four days. The department said that from July 18 to 20, heavy rain is also expected in Punjab, Haryana, East Rajasthan and North Madhya Pradesh.


The Meteorological Department said that on July 18, heavy rain is expected in Uttar Pradesh and on July 18 and 19 in Uttarakhand. "There is a possibility of lightning and rain at isolated places over Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and South Rajasthan during the next 24 hours," it said.


The IMD said that there is a forecast of heavy rain in the northeast as well. Heavy rains are expected at isolated places over Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till July 19, the intensity and spread of which is likely to reduce gradually later. Despite the re-activation of the southwest monsoon in many areas of the plains of North India, the temperature remained above normal due to lack of rain.
