New Delhi: Eyeing the upcoming state assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra announced free medical treatment of up to Rs 10 lakh for the people in the state.
Taking to Twitter, the Congress leader criticised UP's dilapidated health infrastructure. She wrote that after the second wave of coronavirus and widespread fever in the state, the crumbling state of health infrastructure is evident.
Priyanka Gandhi further said in order to provide the best treatment at a low cost, Congress will provide free medical treatment for up to Rs 10 lakh for the people of Uttar Pradesh if it comes in power.
With stakes high in the UP Assembly Polls 2022, Congress has been actively making preparations for it. On Saturday, Priyanka inaugurated the ‘Pratigya Yatras’ from the Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh.
Under this initiative, the party declared seven promises which included waiving off loans for farmers and 20 lakh jobs, if given a chance by the people. The other promises include that the party would procure wheat and paddy at Rs 2,500 per quintal and sugarcane at Rs 400 per quintal.
Congress has already announced it is offering 40% of tickets to women candidates going in the UP Assembly Elections 2022.
Further focusing on women voters, the party leader promised to give electric scooters to graduate girls and smartphones to girls passing class 12th.
