New Delhi: A newly-wed bride arrived at a polling booth in Firozabad assembly constituency in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, to cast her vote in the third phase of the ongoing assembly elections in the state. Polling in 59 assembly constituencies across 16 districts in Uttar Pradesh, for the third phase of the assembly elections in the state, commenced at 7 am IST, on Sunday, February 20.
The bride, Julie, arrived at the location in her wedding dress and cast her vote at polling booth no. 305 in Firozabad, news agency ANI reported. Julie got married last night and was leaving for her in-laws' hours this morning.
A similar scenario was reported on February 10, the polling date for the first phase of the assembly elections in the state. A bridegroom in Muzaffarnagar had arrived at a polling booth in his wedding dress to cast his vote in the first phase, ANI reported. Ankur Balyan, the bridegroom, said: "Pehle matdaan, uske baad Bahu, uske baad sab kaam." He had come to cast his vote ahead of his wedding day.
As many as 59 assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will go to polls on February 23, in the fourth phase of the assembly elections in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address huge public meetings at the districts of Hardoi and Unnao on Sunday, as part of campaigning for the fourth phase of the ongoing assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
The assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are being held in seven phases, and will conclude on March 7.
