In the wake of the auspicious 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony of Ayodhya's Ram Temple which is scheduled to take place on January 22, 2024, the Uttar Pradesh police has imposed section 144 of the CrPC act across Lucknow, Noida, and Greater Noida to mark the peaceful celebration of the ceremony along with 26 January Republic Day parade. "Restrictions under CrPC section 144 will be invoked across Noida and Greater Noida from January 21 to 26," the Gautam Buddh Nagar police said on Saturday, as per news agency PTI.

Similar orders have been issued in Lucknow, as per news agency ANI.

The order was issued in view of the Republic Day celebrations on January 26 and the consecration ceremony at the Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22.

According to an order issued by Additional DCP (law and order) Hridesh Katheriya, the restrictions include a ban on unlawful assembly of five or more people, unauthorised processions, and demonstrations among others, which will apply from January 21 to 26 (six days), reported PTI.

"The live telecast of Shri Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha is scheduled on January 22 along with Diwali programme. Then the birth anniversary of late Hasrat Ali on January 25 and Republic Day celebration on January 26," Katheriya said, as per PTI.

He further added, "Along with these, some protests and demonstrations are proposed by various organisations and farmers from time to time".

As a result, it is impossible to completely rule out the possibility of anti-social forces upsetting the peace, and appropriate preparations must be made to ensure the safe completion of authorised events, according to Katheriya.

He also marked that in order to maintain peace and harmony in the Gautam Buddh Nagar, mischievous elements must be prevented from carrying out any activity that may create a possibility of an unfavourable environment.

Later, the Additional DCP said in the order "Considering the seriousness and urgency of the situation and due to paucity of time, it is not possible to provide an opportunity of hearing to any other party, hence this order is being passed ex-parte."
