Flood in Gorakhpur: In Gorakhpur, Rapti, Rohin and Ghaghara rivers can cause a lot of damage. All three rivers are flowing above the danger mark. Within 24 hours, the number of villages affected by floods has also doubled. 21 villages in the district are surrounded by floodwater. However, water has not yet entered these villages. The roads have been submerged in water and thus people are using boats. Rapti river has certainly affected people residing in low-lying areas. People's homes have been heavily affected by floodwater.


The connecting roads for 21 villages and the farm fields have also been submerged in water. 16 small and big boats have been deployed to maintain movement and ensure safety. Apart from villages, several low-lying areas in the city are also affected by the floodwater forcing people to take boats.  


Villages affected by floods
Among the 21 villages affected by the floods in Gorakhpur, six villages are from Campierganj - Bargadhi, Machli Gaon, Bhaurabari, Chandipur, Budheli, Algatpur Rohin. Six villages from Sahajanwan tehsil are affected by Aami and Rapti rivers - Chak Chohra, Vidar, Banora, Bhuwa Shaheed, Gahira, Suthani. Shivaria village in Sadar is affected by the Rohin river and Jharwa, Bhauwapar, Naharpur Atraulia, Bhuramal are affected by the Rapti river. Bihua, Balthar of Gola town and Katrari, Karanjahi of Bansgaon town are affected by Rapti and Ghaghara rivers.


Due to floods, people living on the banks of rivers are in a panic. Flood water has entered the houses of Kolia, Manjharia, Domin Garh. CM Yogi Adityanath had directed Gorakhpur district authorities to address the problems before the water level of the rivers rises, but no precautions were taken and people are now upset and helpless.
