New Delhi: As the countdown for the UP election 2022 begins, a meeting of the core committee members of the Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party with the central leadership of the party will take place in Delhi today. The meeting comes a day after the Uttar Pradesh BJP’s Election Committee held a meeting on Monday. This meeting in the national capital is scheduled to take place for three days. Senior leaders include Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. Dinesh Sharma, Swatantra Dev Singh reached Delhi this morning where they will be staying for the next three days. 


Along with the central leaders, tickets for the first and second phase of the UP Assembly election will be decided in this meeting. It is being expected that the meeting of the BJP Central Election Committee will be held on January 13 while the party's first list will be released anytime after January 14. The arrival time of the leaders and timings of the meeting has not been confirmed yet.

The Election Commission of India on Saturday had announced the dates for the UP Assembly election. The election will be held in seven phases with the first phase starting on February 10, the second phase on February 14, the third phase on February 20, the fourth phase on February 22, the fifth phase on February 27, sixth phase on March 3 and the last and final seventh phase on March 7.


Counting of the votes will take place on March 10.


Besides UP, assembly elections for the states of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa will also be held during the same period.
