New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Arvind Giri died of a heart attack on Tuesday, reported news agency ANI. A five-term MLA from the Gola Gokarannath assembly constituency in the Lakhimpur Kheri district, Giri died on the way near Sitapur while being taken for treatment in Lucknow, reported the news agency citing sources. 


Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered condolences on the demise of the BJP legislator.


"The demise of BJP MLA from Gola assembly constituency of Lakhimpur Kheri district Arvind Giri ji is unfortunate. My condolences are with the bereaved families. May Lord Shri Ram grant the departed soul a place at his feet and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this unfathomable loss. Om Shanti," the CM tweeted. 






Fatalities due to heart attacks have been on a rise recently. Many famous personalities recently passed after suffering a heart attack. Playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnat, popularly known as KK, died on May 31 this year after a heart attack following his musical concert in Nazrul Manch in Kolkata. 


Popular Marathi actor Praveen Patwardhan died on August 9 after suffering from a heart attack at his residence. 


Kannada superstar Puneet Rajkumar also suffered a heart attack while working out in the gym on October 29 last year after which he passed away. Actor Siddharth Shukla too died after suffering a cardiac arrest on September 2 last year. 


Comedian Raju Srivastava suffered a heart attack recently after which he was rushed to the hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi and has shown minor improvement after his fever subsided.
