Umesh Pal's family has thanked UP CM Yogi Adityanath after Atiq Ahmed's son was killed in an encounter by the UPSTF on Thursday. "I thank CM Yogi ji for serving justice and I appeal to him to give us justice ahead also. We have full faith in CM Shanti Devi," Umesh Pal's mother said. Asad, son of mafia Atiq Ahmad, and Ghulam, son of Maksudan, wanted by the police for their alleged involvement in the murder of Umesh Pal murder case in Prayagraj, have been killed in an encounter. Both were killed during a police operation in Jhansi.

"I congratulate UP STF for this action. Police fired in retaliation after they were fired upon by them. It is a message to criminals that this is the new India. It is the Yogi govt in UP, not the Samajwadi Party in power which gave protection to criminals," UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya said.

The operation was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Navendu and DySP Vimal from the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UPSTF). The police recovered sophisticated weapons that were made in a foreign country. More information about the incident is still being gathered.

The police had announced a reward of five lakh rupees each for information leading to their arrest.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been briefed about the encounter. Principal Secretary Home Sanjay Prasad gave information about Atiq Ahmad's son's encounter to CM Yogi.

The chief minister has summoned a report from the Special Task Force (STF) in the Jhansi encounter case and is personally monitoring the matter.

I'm Reduced To Dust, Spare My Family'

"I am totally reduced to dust, but please don't trouble the women and children of my family now," gangster-politician Atiq Ahmad had told reporters from inside a police van on Wednesday.

"Hum aapke jariye government se kehna chahte hain, bulkul mitti me mil gaye hain ab hamari auraoton aur bachchon ko pareshan na karein. (I want to tell the government through you (the media) that I am totally reduced to dust, but please don't trouble the women and children of my family now," Ahmad told a news channel from inside his police van between Jhansi and Prayagraj.
