A gang of thieves donning full PPE suits stole mobile phones from a showroom in the Ganga Nagar area of Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut. According to the police, around 100 mobile phones were robbed, and one of the thieves was captured on CCTV. A probe has been launched into the matter.
Meerut Additional Superintendent of Police Kamlesh Bahadur said, "There has been a robbery in the Ganga Nagar police station area. As per the initial report, around 100 mobile phones were robbed. One of the thieves, who is masked, is captured on CCTV. The investigation is underway," as quoted by the news agency ANI.
The burglars entered the shop through a plot adjacent to the showroom on Wednesday night, as per a report in the Hindustan Times. In a 41-second video shared by ANI, a masked individual, wearing a PPE suit, can be seen collecting an array of mobile phones from the store's shelves.
In another incident, the Delhi Police solved an abduction-cum-dacoity case and arrested five criminals, including two bad characters, in this connection, as reported by ANI. The police have also recovered the looted truck along with hosiery materials, a car, and weapons of crime used by the criminals, the news agency reported.
According to DCP (Shahdara) Rohit Meena, "The incident occurred on October 14 to 15 when the victim, a truck driver, was on his way to deliver hosiery goods from Delhi. When he reached the Shahdara area, he was stopped by five men in a car. The men abducted the victim and took him to an isolated spot where they beat him up and robbed him of his truck and goods," as quoted by ANI.
