New Delhi: The Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday slammed BJP over the Supreme Court's observation in the Lakhimpur Kheri case. Yadav attacked the BJP alleging that the party decides whom to investigate and whom to protect.
“BJP decides whom to implicate, whom to follow, where to take the investigation. When will the SIT finally itself be probed?,” he asked pointing at the SC observation on the investigation.

The court on Monday had suggested appointing a former judge to monitor the UP SIT probe of the case as the probe was not going “as they expected,” reported PTI.
“The Supreme Court is saying that efforts are being made to save the accused in the Lakhimpur case. The courts have raised questions on the law and order of the state many times in the past. Why is the government not accepting the matter of monitoring of probe? We are already saying that as long as the BJP is in government here, there is no hope of justice in this case,” he told the press.
“Three engines of BJP are destroying law and order. First is the Delhi engine, then the Lucknow engine and Lakhimpur engine,” Yadav added, pointing at the union minister Ajay Mishra whose son is an accused in the case.
He further questioned why “Minister of State for Home (Ajay Mishra), whose son was arrested in this case, has not been sacked yet?”
Four farmers were mowed down by an SUV at Lakhimpur Kheri during a demonstration against the UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya on October 3. Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra was allegedly driving the car. The violence allegedly led to the death of two BJP workers, a driver, and a local journalist.
Yadav intensified his attack on the UP CM by saying, “Which chief minister is speaking this after all. He should tell what sections were imposed on him, which he himself withdrew after becoming the CM.”
