PM Narendra Modi Reviews Kedarnath Reconstruction Project: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday directed the reconstruction of Ishaaneshwar temple in Kedarnath in line with public sentiments along with installation of an 'Om' (Omkar) statue at Astha Chowk and revision of the design of Shankaracharya Samadhi and Shiva Udyan. Prime Minister Modi gave these directions while assessing the ongoing reconstruction works at Kedarnath through a video conference last evening.


According to an official release, PM Modi directed to expedite the Kedarnath Reconstruction Project and also provided new instructions to develop the Vasukital region as well as surrounding areas. During the review meeting, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami urged the Prime Minister to dedicate some of his precious time to lay the foundation stone of the Rs. 113.92 crore project under Phase-II of redevelopment at Kedarpuri, on which the PM assured that he would schedule a time soon.


The Chief Minister said after the 2013 Kedarnath disaster, Kedarpuri is being built as a new, safe and convenient religious and spiritual city, under the guidance of the Prime Minister The Chief Minister also informed the Prime Minister on the decision to move 22 government buildings to begin construction works worth Rs 245 crore in the first phase of the State Cabinet's plan to develop Badrinath Dham as a 'Smart Spiritual Hill Town', for which the work is now being expedited.


Work on the first phase of Kedarnath reconstruction has been completed: Chief Secretary


The Chief Secretary of the State, Dr. S.S. Sandhu, while making a presentation, said that the first phase of Kedarnath reconstruction has been completed including reconstruction of Temple Plaza, Arrival Plaza, safety wall on the banks of Mandakini and Saraswati river, construction of five ghats, construction of five guest houses and three meditation caves. He said that the construction of the Adi Shankaracharya cave along with 13 other reconstruction works was worth Rs. 113.92 crore are underway, as a part of the second phase.
