New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit the poll-bound state of Uttar Pradesh once again today. The Prime Minister will be visiting Prayagraj at around 1 PM be the party of a programme that will be attended by two lakh women. 


According to a press release by the Prime Minister’s office, the programme is being held “to empower women, especially at the grass root level, by providing them with necessary skills, incentives and resources.”


During the programme, PM Modi will transfer an amount of Rs 1,000 crore in the bank account of Self Help Groups (SHGs) that will benefit around 16 lakh women members of SHGs.

The transfer is being made under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihood Mission. It means that 80,000 SHGs will receive the Community investment fund of Rs 1.10 lakh per SHG and 60,000 SHGs will receive the Revolving fund of Rs 15,000 per SHG.


After this, the PM will transfer the first-month stipend of Rs 4,000 in accounts of 20,000 Business Correspondent-Sakhis. It will be followed by transferring an amount over Rs 20 crore to around one lakh beneficiaries under the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangala Scheme. The scheme provides conditional fund transfer to a girl child at different stages of her life. 





The cash transfers will be followed by the foundation laying ceremony of 202 Supplementary Nutrition Manufacturing Units. These units are being funded by the SHGs and will be built at a cost of Rs 1 crore per unit. They will supply supplementary nutrition under the Integrated Child Development Scheme in 600 blocks in the state.
