A 10-year-old boy and his 6-year-old sister were murdered in Meerut by their mother and her alleged lover and local councillor, Saud on Wednesday. A police official, while talking to the news agency ANI, said that all accused in the case have been arrested. However, the official added, the bodies of the children that were dumped into a canal are yet to be recovered.

Piyush Singh, SP City while talking to ANI said, "On 22nd March, 2 siblings, a 10-year-old boy & 6-year-old girl were murdered & bodies were thrown into canal by their mother and her lover, namely Saud who is local councillor along with help of their neighbours. When children went missing, a case was registered & plot revealed during probe."

The girl was murdered in her own home while her brother was murdered in their neighbour's home, Singh mentioned.

As per Singh, three men and three women were involved in these murders, all of whom have been arrested.

"3 women and 3 men are involved in the murders. The girl was killed in her own home and the boy was killed in the neighbour’s house. The dead bodies of the children have not yet been recovered. All the accused have been arrested," ANI quoted SP Piyush Singh as saying.

In a similar incident last year, a one-and-a-half-year-old girl child was strangled to death by her own mother in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor. During a police investigation, it was revealed that the mother did this in a fit of rage out of spite against her own husband. A case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code was lodged against the accused.
