New Delhi: A woman and her daughter have died in a fire during a demolition drive in the Rura police station area of ​​Kanpur Dehat in Uttar Pradesh. The police reached the spot after receiving the information about the incident and a case had been filed. The probe into the matter is underway. A case has been registered against more than 20 people under relevant sections. 



A police official and a government official has been suspended in the matter.


According to sources close to ABP News, the incident caused a massive uproar as the people from the nearby village converged at the location where the incident took place.


The people who died in the incident were allegedly living on ‘gram samaj’ (government) land. After receiving the information an administrative team went to the village to remove illegal encroachment from the ‘gram samaj’ (government) land, the sources said.






Krishna Gopal Dixit, the family member of the deceased has accused SDM Gyaneshwar Prasad and Rura police station in-charge Dinesh Kumar Gautam, Sameer Lekhpal, Ashok Singh, posted in Maitha tehsil of Kanpur Dehat and alleged during the demolition drive, the administrative officials along with the police officials set the hut on fire while Dixit's wife and daughter were inside. He alleged this to be a plot hatched by his relatives along with the administration. However, the police have denied all the allegations. A complaint has been registered against some of the villagers. The senior officials have assured us that strict action will be taken.


According to the sources, after the incident, the villagers attacked the police and administration in the Mandoli village of Kanpur Dehat. Following the incident, IG and ADG, along with Divisional Commissioner Rajshekhar also reached the spot. A team of officers from Kanpur Dehat to Kanpur Nagar reached this village and the area was converted into a cantonment.
