A Noida man has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a 16-year-old girl in 2021. The sentence was issued by a court in Gautam Buddh Nagar. 


The accused, Kallu, has also been fined Rs 40,000, according to a PTI report. 


On January 25, 2021, the girl's father lodged a report at the Sector 49 police station alleging that Kallu had kidnapped and raped his daughter. The police rescued the teenager and, following a medical examination, it was confirmed that the victim had been sexually assaulted. Kallu was subsequently arrested, reported PTI.

UP Man Sentenced To 20 Years Jail For Raping Stepdaughter


Last week, a man in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, was sentenced to 20 years in prison and fined Rs 50,000 for raping his minor stepdaughter about five years ago. Additional District Government Advocate Devesh Chandra Tripathi said on Sunday that the sentence was issued by the court of special judge (POCSO Act) Parul Verma, as per a PTI report.


According to the complaint filed with police, on the night of September 9, 2019, Rakesh, in a drunken state, raped the victim, who was 10 years old at the time, reported PTI. 


When the girl started screaming in pain, the complainant switched on the lights to find the man allegedly strangling the girl with a gas pipe. The victim said that her stepfather had been sexually abusing her for three years. On the basis of the complaint, the police registered a case under relevant sections.


Delhi Man Gets 10-Year Imprisonment For Abduction & Rape


Earlier this month, a court in Delhi sentenced a man to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for kidnapping and raping a 12-year-old girl about nine years ago. The court said that the gruesome crime called for stringent punishment. 


The 28-year-old accused was earlier convicted under the relevant penal provisions and the POCSO Act.


According to a PTI report, Additional Public Prosecutor Yogita Kaushik Dahiya said that, in 2015, the convict abducted the minor victim, put vermillion on her forehead in a temple and sexually assaulted her on several occasions. Dahiya said, "The convict has moved ahead in life having got married and having a child, there is no question of showing any leniency to him."


Aside from 10 years under the POCSO Act, the man has been sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment for the offences of kidnapping, abducting or inducing a woman to compel her marriage and two years of rigorous imprisonment for not appearing in response to a proclamation.


The court also awarded the victim Rs 10.5 lakh as compensation, saying the incident had left a grave impact on her mental, physical and emotional well-being, for which she required financial support.
