In separate incidents, three people including a woman were killed and three others were injured after being struck by lightning in Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri district on Saturday. Ramji Mishra, the Additional District Magistrate of Mainpuri, told news agency ANI that the injured are currently undergoing treatment, while the next of kin to the deceased will be given Rs 4 lakh each. "3 people died and 3 got injured due to lightning strikes. The injured are undergoing treatment. Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased will be given", Mishra was quoted as saying by ANI.

On Thursday, similar incidents occurred in Madhya Pradesh, when at least five people were killed and one person was injured in two different districts of the state. Three persons were killed and one was injured near Durgapur village in Panna district, while two persons died in Ramnagar village in Tikamgarh district. Panna police station in-charge Krishna Kumar Mawai identified the deceased as Lallu Ahirwar (40), a resident of Durgapur village Lalbabu Vishwakarma (35) a resident of Nathu Purva area, and Abid Khan (40), a resident of Madhavganj. Another person was injured during the lightning strike, identified as Navneet Patel was taken to the hospital for treatment.


The second incident occurred in Tikamgarh district on the same day, two farmers died due to lightning in Ramnagar village. Palera police station in-charge Nasir Farooqi said that it had started to rain heavily on Thursday afternoon and the two farmers stood under a tree to avoid the rain. As a result, both of them were hit by lightning. 


"Two farmers died due to lightning in Ramnagar village. There was heavy rainfall prevailing in the area on Thursday afternoon, as a result of which farmers Pyarelal and Desh Raj stood under a tree to avoid rain. In the meantime, lightning hit them and both of them died", Farooqi told ANI.
