New Delhi: Two bike borne riders were killed in a road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri as they were hit by a speeding SUV on Bahraich highway. The two persons who were cousins, aged 20 and 22 died on the spot following the accident, reported ABP News. 


The SUV carried a sticker of MLA and is being said to belong to Lakhimpur Sadar MLA Yogesh Verma, as per ABP News sources.


 






“A motorcycle and a Scorpio vehicle collided head-on on the Bahraich Highway in the Kotwali police station area. In this accident both the people riding the motorcycle died. The Scorpio with whom this accident happened is being told of Sadar MLA. The Scorpio vehicle and its driver have been taken into custody. Further legal action will be taken after receiving statements from the relatives of the deceased,” said Additional Superintendent of Police, quoted by ABP News.

As per ABP News sources, the driver was in a drunken state and tried to run away after the accident after which he was caught by people. The SUV is said to belong to BJP MLA Yogesh Verma. Villagers also said that the MLA sticker was there on the car. The relatives of the deceased have been informed and police have initiated further action, reported ABP News.
