BJP MP Kangana Ranaut visited cloudburst-affected areas in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. While addressing the media, she criticised Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu over the allocation of funds for the people displaced by the calamity.

"The displaced people haven't got Rs 7 lakh allotted to them from the central government's fund. The state government has no sentiments for the people of the area… there should be a special inquiry over this," Ranaut said.

The Mandi MP said Malana in Kullu had been “disconnected”, and the villagers had resorted to building a bridge.

PTI quoted her as accusing the state government of doing "nothing" to help the residents of Samej village, which has been worst hit by the flash floods. Over 30 people are missing in the village, located about 148 km from Shimla.

She said Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had assured assistance to Himachal Pradesh “but the funds would come through the 'ditch' (khada) created by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu”.

The hill state has suffered losses to the tune of Rs 684 crore since the onset of the monsoon. Heavy rains and related calamities have killed 87 people, PTI reported, citing the state emergency operation centre.
