New Delhi: Days after the Gyanvapi mosque survey concluded and a report was submitted, the Jamiat Ulama i-Hind has called for a national conference of Muslim organisations in the country on May 28 and 29, which starts today. The first day’s session will begin at 8:45 am, the Jamiat said on Twitter. The conference will be taking place in UP’s Deoband.
The gathering is likely to discuss issues regarding mosques and structures near them.
The gathering comes days after the Jamiat urged people to not interfere in the proceedings regarding the video survey of the Gyanvapi Mosque.
On May 18, the Jamiat took to Twitter saying, “Muslims Organizations should #not #Interfere in #Gayanwapi Masjid Case-Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind *Public demonstrations should be avoided *Masjid Intezamiya committee is a party in various courts. It is believed that they will fight this case vigorously till end. #GyanvapiMosque.”
In the same tweet thread, it added, “Ulama, Scholars, speakers & TV debaters are urged to refrain from participating in TV debates & discussions on this issue. The case is sub-juidice, so provocative debates and social media speeches are by no means in the interest of the country and the nation. #GyanvapiMosque.”
The Jamiat had also made an appeal in the court citing three demands namely-
“(1) Gyanvapi Mosque-like issues should not be brought to the road, and public exhibitions should be avoided. (2) Mosque committee is contesting the case. Appeal to other organizations not to interfere in this #directly the committee should be assisted.”
It further added, “Ulema, speakers and dignitaries and TV debaters are urged to refrain from participating in TV debates and debates. The matter is sub-judice, so provocative debates in public debates and speeches on social media are in no way in the interest of the country and Muslims.”
The video survey of the Gaynvapi Mosque was conducted on May 12 and 13, and a report for the same was submitted onMay 19.
