A mother and her son were killed on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh, after a speeding car coming from the wrong direction hits their scooter on Saturday, officials said.


The incident which was captured on CCTV shows that a high-speed Alto car driving on the wrong side of the expressway in Ghaziabad collided with their scooter. The impact was so intense that the mother and son on the scooter were thrown into the air for several meters before landing far from the area where they collided.

According to India Today, Police reported that the accident took place around 8 pm on Saturday. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital but they were declared dead. The deceased were identified as 20-year-old Yash Gautam and his 40-year-old mother, Manju Devi, both residents of West Vinod Nagar in Delhi.


The driver of the car has been arrested, and further investigation is ongoing. It is important to note that two-wheelers are completely prohibited on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.


SUV Rams Truck On Lucknow-Agra Expressway


In another incident, a road accident was reported in the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday where at least 5 people were killed on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway. The accident occurred after a speeding Scorpio car rammed a truck.


Several others were found injured and were shifted to hospitals for treatment.


According to the police, the truck driver fled from the site and efforts were made to trace him. The Scorpio car was on its way to Ayodhya from Delhi at the time of the accident.


Locals reported to the police that the SUV was at its peak and rammed a truck. Meanwhile, the bodies of the accident victims were referred for a postmortem, and their families were informed.
