UP: Woman Dies After Quack Administers 15 Bottles Of Glucose; FIR Ordered

Santosh Mistry was known as the 'Bengali doctor' administered the woman who had Covid-like symptoms 15 bottles of glucose.

Noida: An FIR has been ordered by the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration to be lodged against a quack after a 32 year old woman died under his care. 

She was brought to him after she fell ill after he administered 15 bottles of glucose she was rushed to another hospital where she was declared brought dead. 

According to PTI, the woman who belonged to Jewar area of the district was unwell and when she was brought to the quack he administered 15 bottles of glucose after which her condition deteriorated further, the officials said. 

Known as the 'Bengali doctor', Santosh Mistry was dentified as a ‘rural medical practitioner’ according to TOI. Mistry was apparently treating the woman, who stayed in Dauji locality, after she developed Covid-like symptoms.

"She was eventually brought to the community health centre (CHC) in Jewar in an e-rickshaw where doctors found that she was already dead. The doctors also found that the 'Bengali' quack had got 15 bottles of glucose administered to the woman without getting her tested for COVID-19," District Information Officer Rakesh Singh Chauhan was quoted as saying. 

District Magistrate Suhas LY directed the health department officials to approach the local police and lodge an FIR against the quack under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and under provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, he said.

"The doctor in-charge of the CHC has written a letter to the district's chief medical officer and the SHO of Jewar police station informing them about the incident and requesting for legal action," Chauhan added.
