Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are on Tuesday set to address voters in Raebareli after a planned event in Amethi was shifted to neighbouring seat to avoid the intense summer heat, as per Pradeep Singhal, the Congress' Amethi district unit chief.
The event will take place at the Bhuemau Guest House premises in Raebareli, news agency PTI reported. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi triumphed over Uttar Pradesh minister Dinesh Pratap Singh in Raebareli, while Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma won the Amethi seat from Union minister Smriti Irani.
The Gandhi siblings arrived in Raebareli from Delhi earlier today.
The thank-you event will feature both Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, along with the newly elected Amethi MP, Kishori Lal Sharma.
Kishori Sharma told news agency ANI, "Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are arriving for 'karyakarta aabhar samaroh'... There is a lot of enthusiasm among the workers of the Congress party... The public of Raebareli will always want Rahul Gandhi to remain (as an MP) from here. I personally want him to remain (as an MP) from Raebareli."
Rahul Gandhi's Visit to Wayanad Tomorrow
Rahul Gandhi is also scheduled to visit Wayanad in Kerala on June 12, Congress party sources told PTI. This visit follows his substantial victory in the Wayanad constituency during the recent Lok Sabha elections, where he defeated CPI candidate Annie Raja by a margin of 3,64,422 votes.
Rahul's visits are slated amid speculation that he might relinquish the Kerala seat to retain Raebareli, a traditional Congress bastion in Uttar Pradesh. In light of his visit, the United Democratic Front (UDF) has postponed a planned protest march to the state Assembly, initially scheduled for June 12, as per PTI. The UDF had organised the march in response to allegations against the Pinarayi Vijayan government concerning a liquor policy row, which purportedly favoured bar owners.

UDF Convenor M M Hassan stated on Monday that the Assembly march and a coordination committee meeting have been rescheduled, as UDF leaders need to attend events associated with Gandhi's visit to Wayanad.
