Budaun Double-Murder: Rs 25,000 Reward For Info On Accused, MP Meets Victims' Family — What We Know So Far

Budaun double murder case: The police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on absconding accused Javed.

The last rites of the victims of the Budaun double murder case, Ayush and Ahaan were performed on Wednesday morning, a day after both the brothers were killed in cold blood by a barber, Sajid who was known to the family. Sajid was later killed in a police encounter while another accused Javed is absconding. 

Sajid allegedly attacked three brothers —Ayush,12, Ahaan alias Honey, 8, and Yuvraj, 10, with a knife a their home on Tuesday, Ayush and Ahaan were killed while Yuvraj were rushed to a hospital with critical injuries. His condition is now said to be stable.

Following the attack, the agitated locals created a ruckus vandalising and setting fire to the buildings while some right-wing Hindu groups staged a protest.

Here is all that we know so far. 

• According to the FIR registered based on a complaint lodged by the victims' father Vinod Kumar, the accused knew the family and went there at around 7 pm seeking money for the treatment of his pregnant wife in a hospital. 


• Sajid told the mother of the vicitms, Sangeeta that he needed Rs 5,000 to pay the hospital for the delivery of his child. He said that he was feeling uneasy due to the delivery of the child as five children had died in his family previously. “I also offered him tea,” she said.


• While the mother went to get the money, Sajid went to the rooftop where he called Ayush and Ahaan and attacked the minors with a sharp knife. Javed had also reached on the terrace. 


• When both the accused came downstairs, Sangeeta saw their blood-drenched clothes, and according to FIR, one of them said, "I have done my work today".


• The police have not confirmed the motive behind the murder. They have booked Sajid and Javed under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for murder. 


• Budaun Senior Superintendent of Police Alok Priyadarshi said that one Babu, father of Sajid and Javed, and their uncle Kayamuddin have been detained for questioning as part of the efforts to arrest absconding Javed. 


• The police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for absconding Javed. 


• The last rites of both the victims were performed on Wednesday at Kachchla Ghat amid heavy police presence while Sajid's burial was also done the same day. 


• Nazarin, the mother of the accused said that her sons faced the consequences of their actions. "I don't know what was going on in their minds. They do not have any rivalry with anyone. I feel very sad for the children to whom this has been done," she told PTI. 


• BJP MP from Budaun Sanghamitra Maurya met the victims' family and assured them of her full support. "I condemn the murder of the two minor boys,” she said.
