A 25-year-old police constable shot himself in the head in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly on Friday. According to a PTI report, Arun Yadav from Amroha district had been on duty at the Gularia Gauri Shankar Temple in the Sirauli area until evening. After he returned to his quarters, he allegedly turned off his mobile phone and shot himself in the head. 


The sound of gunfire prompted police and locals to rush to Yadav's room, where they found him injured. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later transferred to the district hospital where Yadav succumbed to his injuries.


The police did not find any suicide note, as per The Indian Express. 


Superintendent of Police (Rural) Manush Pareek and other officials arrived at the Sirauli police station to investigate the matter. They analysed Yadav's mobile phone and also spoke to his colleagues to determine the possible reasons behind his suspected suicide. The authorities believe that Yadav shot himself due to family reasons.


Senior Superintendent of Police Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan said that efforts are underway to ascertain the reasons behind Yadav's suicide. According to PTI, his family has been contacted, and authorities are examining his call details.

In another incident, days after two girls were gang raped and found dead in a brick kiln, the father of one of the girls allegedly died by suicide in the Hamirpur district of UP, according to Hindustan Times. The 45-year-old man’s daughter and niece were gang raped at a brick kiln in Kanpur's Ghatampur area. His body was discovered hanging from a tree, approximately two kilometres from his residence.


As per the report, family members have reported that the father was facing pressure to withdraw the complaint in the gang rape case. The relatives of the deceased man claimed that he had been receiving threats from the family of the accused, asking him to withdraw the gang rape case.
