Six individuals, including two children, were killed and several others sustained injuries in a collision involving two cars and a pickup truck in the Ballia area of Uttar Pradesh, according to an ANI report. The incident occurred between 3:00 and 3:30 am on Tuesday, according to a police official.


"Six people, including two children, lost their lives, and several others were injured in a collision involving two cars and a pickup truck around 3:00-3:30 am in the Bairiya police station area of Ballia," stated Ballia SP, Dev Ranjan Verma, as per ANI.






"The victims were returning from a function," he added. 


The injured have been hospitalised and are currently receiving treatment, according to the police.

According to PTI, five of the deceased have been identified as Amit Kumar Gupta (46), Ranjit Sharma (32), Yash Gupta (9), Raj Gupta (11), and Rajendra Gupta (50). The identity of the other individual who was killed in the incident is yet to be ascertained. 


The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.


SP Verma said that of those who were injured, four are said to be in critical condition and were referred to Varanasi, rest are admitted in the district hospital. 


The locals and police joined in to rescue the injured, according to The Times Of India. 


This comes a day after nine people, including two women died after a truck, a jeep and a motorcycle collided in the Kaimur district of Bihar. The accident occurred after a jeep, carrying eight people, including the women, hit a motorcycle while travelling in the same direction, likely after the jeep driver lost control. Following which the bike veered into the opposite lane where it was hit by a speeding truck, killing nine people on the spot.
