Bareilly: A violent altercation broke out at a wedding in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, after guests allegedly clashed over a missing chicken leg piece in the biryani served at the event. The incident, which allegedly took place at Sartaj Marriage Hall in Nawabganj, was captured on camera.


According to Times Now, the conflict began when the baraatis (groom;s side) complained that the biryani served to them lacked even one chicken leg piece.


Angered by this, the bride’s side allegedly retaliated with verbal insults. The argument over the biryani quickly escalated into a full-scale brawl between the families.






India Today reported that footage from the event, showing guests kicking, punching, and throwing chairs at one another, went viral on social media platform X.


The video captures women attempting to flee the scene as groups of men fight each other. The fight is said to have continued for over half an hour, leading some wedding guests to question whether the Bareilly Police should intervene, according to the Hindustan Times.


According to Times Now, the groom also became involved and declared that he would call off the wedding. In response, the bride’s side intervened and attempted to persuade him to reconsider.


Hindustan Times reported that, after several minutes of negotiations, the groom eventually agreed to proceed with the wedding. Ultimately, the families reconciled and the wedding was solemnised as per the traditions. The couple tied the knot and proceeded to their new home. The guests also ate and went back to their homes.


According to Times Now, the Bareilly police stated that they would have taken action if a complaint related to the incident was filed.
