New Delhi: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has expelled several party workers including Former MLC Kailash Singh, Former District Panchayat President of Ghazipur Vijay Yadav, for opposing the party during the MLC election in Ghazipur, news agency ANI reported.
On Tuesday, Yadav had held a meeting with SP allies including Apna Dal (K), Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD).
However, many senior members of the party were missing from the meeting. Akhilesh Yadav’s uncle, UP MLA, and chief of Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party-Lohia (PSPL), Shivpal Yadav was not present at the meeting. He had contested from the Jaswant Nagar seat at an SP ticket.
Besides him, Pallavi Patel, leader of Apna Dal (K) was also not present at the meeting.
However, the leaders present at the meeting were SBSP chief Om Prakash Rajbhar and leader of RLD legislature party Rajpal Baliyan.
Talking about the defeat in the recent assembly elections, Baliyan told ANI, “The defeat was reviewed in the meeting, how will the voice of the common people be vigorously raised in the house? The poor labourers will fight the battle of the unemployed.”
Shivpal Yadav on the other hand tried to clear the doubts about his not attending the meeting by saying, “There is no resentment. We are all together."
The Bharatiya Janata Party bagged 255 seats in the recently concluded assembly elections. On the other hand, SP could win only 111 seats out of 403. While the elections could not get SP in power in the legislative assembly, the seats are enough for them to form a strong opposition in the state.
