Sambhal Cold Storage Collapse: At least ten people have died and three are still missing after a cold storage godown collapsed in Uttar Pradeh's Sambhal district on Friday. According to the latest information, 24 people were buried of which ten have died, 11 got injured.


Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took to Twitter to express grief over the loss of lives in the incident. 


"The loss of lives in the cold store accident at Chandausi in district Sambhal is extremely painful. My condolences are with the bereaved families. May Lord Shri Ram grant the departed souls a place at his holy feet and strength to the family members to bear this immense sorrow," the tweet read.


He also announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the kin of the deceased. Those seriously injured will be given Rs 50,000 while their treatment will be done free of cost, CM's office said.


The Chief Minister also ordered a probe into the incident by a committee led by Commissioner and DIG Moradabad.






Earlier, Moradabad DIG Shalabh Mathur said that the death toll in the incident has risen to eight and some people are still missing. DIG Mathur further said that 11 people have been reduced so far and the operations are underway. The NDRF and SDRF team are carrying out the recuse operations on the ground.


"Death toll rises to 8, some persons are still missing; teams of NDRF and SDRF engaged in search & rescue operation. 11 people rescued so far," the agency quoted Moradabad DIG as saying.
