Four policemen have been suspended in Bulandshahr, UP, over allegations that they planted a pistol in a youth’s car to frame him in a false case. The incident occurred in the Shikarpur police station area.

As per a PTI report, Dinesh Kumar, the father of the youth, Amit, alleged that the policemen stopped his car in a market and discreetly placed the pistol inside. Following this, a case was registered against Amit and he was sent to jail.

A video doing the rounds online purportedly shows the policemen moving a weapon from a motorcycle and placing it in a car.

All policemen seen in the video have been suspended with immediate effect by the Senior Superintendent of Police, reported PTI. Superintendent of Police (Crime) Rakesh Kumar Mishra identified the personnel as the police station in-charge of Shikarpur, the town outpost incharge and two constables.

An inquiry report will be sent to the Senior Superintendent of Police, he said, adding that a separate report will be made in connection with two home guard personnel seen in the video.

A similar case occurred in Madhya Pradesh last year, when two police personnel allegedly concealed a weapon in a motorbike, and then arrested the two-wheeler's owner for "unlawfully carrying a firearm". The officers were subsequently dismissed from their posts.

The youth's family had said that the two personnel, Dinesh and Santosh, raided their home in Khudawali village, Gwalior, on the grounds of information about illicit weaponry stored there.

They then purported to discover a homemade handgun hidden in a bike. However, the youth's family said CCTV footage showed the two police personnel themselves stashing the gun in the bike.
