New Delhi: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vinod Ghosalkar's son Abhishek Ghosalkar was shot dead in Mumbai on Thursday evening, officials said. The incident took place in the limits of MHB Colony police station in the Dahisar area, reported PTI.
A 'Facebook live' video of the incident, which showed Abhishek being shot in the abdomen and shoulder, went viral on social media.
He was immediately rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to gunshot injuries, according to the police.
Meanwhile, the body of one Mauris Noronha, accused of shooting Ghosalkar, was brought to the hospital. He had allegedly shot Ghosalkar before dying by suicide and reportedly streamed it all live on Facebook, reported news agency ANI.
Reacting to the incident, party spokesperson Anand Dubey said, "An attempt to create an atmosphere of anarchy in Maharashtra is being made. BJP, Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena, Ajit Pawar's NCP have completely failed...Nobody seems to be safe now...If a public representative is not safe, what can we say about the common people? Is the government itself creating an atmosphere of fear? Is the opposition being targetted? Sanjay Raut says that this government is nurturing goons. Its living example was seen in Mumbai today...Who will answer this?..."
Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray also reacted to the killing of a former SS (UBT) contractor Abhishek Ghosalkar.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut demanded Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis' resignation over the Dahisar firing incident.
