Two women and a man were arrested on Thursday, for allegedly trying to pressure two sisters to convert their religion in Rajasthan’s Alwar district. As per PTI report, the police said that the sisters had rented a room near the Kotwali police station area in Alwar city for their studies. This is where they met Sakina Mev (25) and Kajal alias Babita Jatav (24), who also lived there.

Alwar Superintendent of Police Anand Sharma told PTI that the two sisters were allegedly pressurised by the two women into befriending a man named Wasim (23), convert their religion, and marry him.

Both Mav and Jatav, as well as Wasim, have been arrested, the officer said, adding that the accused are being interrogated.

This comes just days after two government school teachers in Kota were suspended. Rajasthan's education minister Madan Dilawar said that an inquiry was launched against a third one over allegations of involvement in religious conversion, "love jihad," and connections to banned "jihadi outfits". He further stated that stringent action was taken against three teachers at a government senior secondary school in Khajuri Odpur village, Sangod.

Following a memorandum from the local group, Sarv Hindu Samaj, Sangod, the minister directed action against the teachers, as per an order by the education officer. According to Dilawar, he was informed that a Hindu student's religion was noted down as “Islam” on her transfer certificate.

Dilwar stated that two teachers, Firoj Khan and Mirza Mujahid, have been suspended, while disciplinary actions against the third teacher, Shabana, are in progress. Dilawar also assured the possibility of dismissal of the teachers from their service based on further investigation. The Kota district education officer (secondary) issued an order mandating action against teachers on being directed by the education minister.

"Love Jihad" is a term frequently used to allege that Muslim men use various tactics to persuade Hindu women to convert to Islam through marriage.
