Traffic police personnel in Chevella, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, were caught on camera publicly thrashing two men. The footage, which went viral on social media, showed a traffic police inspector, identified as Venkatesham, and a constable, J Srinu, assaulting the men without provocation.

The video depicted Inspector Venkatesham approaching three men standing by the roadside. Without any clear reason, he was seen aggressively grabbing one of the men by the collar and beating him. The situation quickly escalated as Constable Srinu joined in, targeting another man in the group. A third officer, Keshav, was also present at the scene but did not intervene.

This incident came shortly after another case of police brutality, where a sub-inspector was caught slapping and beating a truck driver in Jeedimetla.

Joel Davis, the Joint Commissioner of Police for Cyberabad's traffic division, acknowledged the incident and promised an investigation. “We will verify and take action,” he stated. He noted that the incident took place on July 15 and that an internal enquiry into the episode was underway. He added that if any of the officers were found guilty of misconduct, they would face strict disciplinary action.

The incident has sparked significant public outrage.

BRS leader Harish Rao Thanneeru expressed his concerns on X, stating, "Another disturbing incident in Chevella where traffic police were caught on camera brutally assaulting two men. This behavior is unacceptable and a gross misuse of power. I urge @TelanganaDGP to take swift and strict action against those involved. We must ensure justice and restore public trust. Friendly policing should not turn into brutal policing in our state."
