TN 12th Result 2025: A Class 12 student from Papanasam in Thanjavur district took her own life fearing failure in the board exams—only to be later found among the successful candidates. The student, Aartika (17), was a resident of Padugai Puduch Street and had recently appeared for the Higher Secondary (Class 12) Examinations, held between March 3 and March 25, 2025. She sat for her exams at the Government Girls' Higher Secondary School in Papanasam and was awaiting the results, which were released on May 8 by the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations.

Girl Found Dead By Suicide

On the day before the result day, Aartika was found unresponsive in a cowshed behind her house. Her parents, after not seeing her for some time, went searching and found her hanging by her dupatta, as per a report on ABP Nadu. She was rushed to the Papanasam Government Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigations by Papanasam police suggest that the fear of failing the examination may have driven her to take the drastic step. Tragically, her results revealed that she had in fact passed the exam with commendable scores.

Aartika Scored 413/600

Her final marks were: Tamil – 72, English – 48, Physics – 65, Chemistry – 78, Botany – 70, and Zoology – 80, adding up to a total of 413 marks out of 600.

The news of her results left her family inconsolable. What should have been a moment of celebration turned into profound grief. Neighbours and relatives gathered around the mourning family, many expressing shock that fear and pressure could drive a bright student to such a fate.

Overall, 95.03% of the students have passed Class 12 exams.
