New Delhi: "Missing" posters of BJP MP and Bollywood actor Sunny Deol were seen on the walls of several houses, railway stations and vehicles in Punjab's Pathankot on Thursday. "After becoming MP, he never visited Gurdaspur. He calls himself the son of Punjab, but he hasn't brought any industrial development, has not allocated MP funds or brought any central govt scheme here," a protesting local said. "If he doesn't want to work, he should tender his resignation," he added.

This is not the first time that a 'missing' poster has been put up in Pathankot regarding Sunny Deol. Rather, even before that, the poster was put up in Punjab.

Sunny Deol, who contested the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the Gurdaspur seat in Punjab, defeated Sunil Jakhar of Congress by 82459 votes and registered a landslide victory and reached the Lok Sabha for the first time.

BJP made national security its poll plank in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, 62-year-old Deol, popular for his role in 'patriotic' films like "Border" and "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha", fits in well with the saffron party's scheme of things.

The actor had been playing his part, sometimes holding aloft a handpump, referencing a scene from "Gadar...", a high-pitched drama on Partition and its aftermath, and other times mouthing dialogues from his popular films -- wooing voters with a thundering "Dhai kilo ka hath" from the 1993 film "Damini" or "Hindustan zindabad hai, zindabad rahega" from "Gadar...".
